International Conference on Nature-based Solutions in Izmir (Türkiye) on May 9th 2025
The International Conference on Nature-based Solutions was held alongside the closing meeting of ResilientCoasts2Climate project in Izmir, Türkiye. It brought together 122 participants from 5 different countries and was opened with a speech by Prof. Dr. Jürgen Breuste. Project Coordinator Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Coşkun Hepcan presented key project outcomes regarding the vulnerability of urban infrastructure, public health, ecosystems, and agriculture in İzmir’s coastal districts to climate threats such as heatwaves, coastal flooding, and urban floods. She also introduced Nature-based Solution (NbS) proposals developed to tackle these challenges. The conference also featured international best practices in NbS, shared by Associate Prof. Dr. Daniele La Rosa, Assistant Prof. Dr. Iwona Zwierzchowska, and Prof. Dr. Cristian Ioja, to boost awareness around NbS.
